Farm Visits and Countryside Classroom on Wheels (CCOW) Visits
The RNCI has a network of volunteer farmers across Moray and Aberdeenshire who are prepared to either host a farm visit, give a classroom talk or take the Countryside Classroom on Wheels to their local school on request. Your farm is a wonderful outdoor classroom offering a wide variety of teaching possibilities throughout the year. Curriculum for Excellence places importance on direct experience learning- taking children out of the classroom to learn hands on. Topics as diverse as science, geography, history, maths and even art can be taught from a farm visit. Projects may look at the seasons, life cycles of plants and animals, materials, technology, food production - schools may be interested in visiting your farm for many reasons.

The RNCI Project Officer can help you to prepare for hosting a farm visit by advising on health and safety requirements and giving ideas and suggestions for talking to pupils.
to find out more, feel free to contact us.

Pre-school Speakers and Classroom  Speakers

If it is not possible for you to host a farm visit, why not visit your local school?
We can help with ideas and suggestions for the sort of props and materials you might want to take with you to illustrate your talk.

Events
The RNCI organise regular events for farmers to keep them up to date with the latest guidelines for schools visits onto farms, risk assessment procedures and to offer help in classroom speaking. To be added to our mailing list and informed of the next event in your area, please get in touch with the RNCI Project Officer, we would be delighted to hear from you!
